LIGHTBOX HELP

You must first be a registered user in order to have Lightbox privileges. Click here to register. By using the lightbox feature you can edit images as you view the search results and only put in the images that may fit your project. Your lightboxes are kept for in indefinite period of time unless you delete them allowing you to go back and view the best images in one place. You may have more than one lightbox and may e-mail this to colleagues.

To create a lightbox, go to either the bottom of the search screen OR to the lightbox page on the menu bar. Name your lightbox in the left hand box and click "Create". Your lightbox is now created and you may add images to it.

After a search query is completed, 3-100 images will be displayed at a time, depending on the number you chose on the search screen. Under each image is a lightbox icon . Click on this to add the image in your lightbox named at the bottom of your search screen and your search results will reappear.

Other lightbox options are located at the bottom of the search screen OR by clicking on "lightbox manager" on the menu bar. If you wish to put your images in a different lightbox, you'll want to name another lightbox in the space on the left side, and then click the button labeled "create". This will create another lightbox.

Once you have images in your lightbox you have several options. First, click on "Display lightbox". Once your lightbox is displayed you may:

  • e-mail this to your client or whomever you wish.
  • Delete any images you wish by clicking on the icon.
  • Delete the lightbox by clicking "delete lightbox"
  • Rename the lightbox
  • Print the Lightbox.
  • Create a new lightbox by typing in a name for your lightbox in the left hand box and click "Create".

ADVANCED LIGHTBOX FEATURES

The advanced lightbox features allows you to add and change notes in a lightbox, move and copy images from a lightbox to a lightbox, and rearrange images within a lightbox.

To use the advanced lightbox features, from the main menu select:
My Lightbox / Advanced Lightbox Manager.

Adding/Changing Notes in a Lightbox

This page allows you to add or change the notes and comments in a lightbox, and to delete images in a lightbox as well. Navigate to the page by clicking the "notes" button on any other Advance Lightbox page. Each lightbox has a comments field that can contain a maximum of 30,000 characters, and each image in the lightbox has a notes field that has a maximum of 100 characters. To change a field, edit the contents and click the "submit" button that's below it.

Allowing someone to change your lightbox notes - Email your lightbox to someone with the checkbox selected allowing the person to change your notes. The person does not have to be registered to change the notes.

Moving/Copying/Rearranging Images from Lightbox to Lightbox

This page allows you to create and delete lightboxes, to move and copy images from one lightbox to another (with or without their notes), and to rearrange the images in a lightbox. Navigate to the page by clicking the "back" button on any other Advance Lightbox page.

Viewing a lightbox - You can view up to two lightboxes at a time. Select the lightboxes from the "Lightbox One:" and "Lightbox Two:" select boxes, and the lightbox images will appear below. An image that has notes will have the icon underneath it, and an image that doesn't will have the icon underneath it. Hovering the mouse over the icon will display the notes. If you click on the notes icon, then a pop-up window will appear allowing you to change the notes for the image.

Previewing a lightbox image with its notes - Select a lightbox from one of the select boxes, then click on the icon underneath it. Its pop-up preview with its image id, caption and notes will be shown.

Creating a new lightbox - Type in a new lightbox name in the "New Lightbox:" edit field and click "create." If a lightbox with the same name already exists, then the new one will not be created.

Deleting a lightbox - Select a lightbox from one of the select boxes and click "delete."

Removing images from a lightbox - Select a lightbox from one of the select boxes, check the images you want to remove, and click "remove selected."

Copying images from one lightbox to another - Select a lightbox on the left and another one on the right. Check the images on the left you want to copy to the right, and click "copy -->." You can do it from right to left by checking the images on the right and clicking "<-- copy." If "include notes" is checked, then the notes will be copied. Otherwise, the copied images will not have notes. If you copy an image to a lightbox that already has the image, then the notes field will be overwritten.

Moving images from one lightbox to another - This is the same as copying images, except that the images will be moved from one lightbox to another instead of being copied (deleted from the original lightbox).

Copying comments from one lightbox to another - The comments for the lightboxs are shown below the images. Click "<-- comments" to copy the comments from right to left, or click "comments -->" to copy them from left to right. You can also update the comments by clicking the "save" button.

Moving an image within the lightbox - To move an image, select it by clicking it once with the mouse. Then without holding the mouse button down, drag the image to its new location. Then click the mouse again to place the image. The image will always be placed to the right of the image you move it to, unless you move it to the first image. You may use the scroll bar while moving an image (drag the image to the scroll bar, click and move the scroll, and the image will reappear). However, you cannot drag an image from one lightbox to another lightbox. To save the rearranged lightbox, click "save." If you select another screen resolution without saving the lightbox, you will not lose your changes. If you select another lightbox without saving the first, then the changes will be lost.
